About the author

After graduating from college in 2010 I moved to Italy and became an English teacher near Venice. This was not part of the plan but, as there was no plan at that point, it worked. I had some really great experiences and loved living there. I started planning my life as a teacher and considered the eventuality of starting my own school. Then, unexpectedly, I was admitted to medical school in Milan in May of 2011, changing my plans again. (Un?)fortunately that little adventure was short-lived and so I returned to the United States dejected, hoping to find another way into medicine. In the spring of 2012 I was admitted to medical school (again) and chose to start fresh in Galway, Ireland where I now reside and study. I'm adjusting to a new climate (with little success), a new culture, new food, new people, and the daunting road before me that is medical school. Let the hilarity and introspection begin (continue?).

I like drawing my Valentine’s Day cards myself, so here is a sample of this year’s selection.

I’ll be celebrating tonight with my Valentine’s Day for Lonely People event, and it’s going to be fabulous. There will be candles, roses, chocolates, wine, a romantic comedy, and my fellow single friends. Why miss out on the company and romance just because you’re alone?
